Section 01
Who We Are
MMUN (Modern Minds Unifying Network) is a specialised social media platform designed exclusively for university and college students. Founded by Ndung'u Patrick Ngotho, MMUN was built on the recognition that students have higher cognitive capacity, unique social needs, and untapped professional potential that general social media platforms fail to serve.
We operate primarily in Kenya and East Africa, with a vision to become the definitive student network across the continent.
MMUN is registered with the Kenya Copyright Board — Registration No. 522922641.
Section 02
Our Mission
Our mission is to build a trusted, student-exclusive ecosystem that enhances academic collaboration, social connection, and real-world opportunity — all in one place.
We believe that university students deserve a platform built specifically for them: one that respects their intelligence, supports their ambitions, and connects them not just with their classmates, but with opportunities, institutions, and each other across every campus in the region.
Section 03
Platform at a Glance
MMUN is a comprehensive student platform combining social networking, institutional communication, peer commerce, event discovery, and career development.
Section 04
What Makes Us Different
Unlike general social media platforms, MMUN is purpose-built for the university student experience. Every feature was designed with student needs at its centre.
Cross-university networking
Connect with students from other institutions across Kenya — not just your own campus. Filter the Persons page by university, course, or year.
Smart announcements
Subscribe to class reps and administrators via a subscriber ID. Get instant Notics for class venues, cancellations, and campus updates.
Student marketplace
MABS lets students trade goods — textbooks, calculators, lab equipment — directly with peers within the same institution.
Real job opportunities
Companies, government bodies, and organisations post internships and jobs directly to verified students — apply without leaving the app.
Leaderboard & recognition
A monthly leaderboard ranks students by blog visits, with prizes for top performers — rewarding active, engaged community members.
Private & group chats
Real-time messaging with voice and video calls powered by WebRTC. Customisable themes and file sharing — built for how students actually communicate.
Section 05
The Six Modules
MMUN is organised around six core modules, each serving a distinct but interconnected purpose in the student experience.
01
Posts
Share text, images, and videos with your university or across all institutions. Like, comment, share, and report content. Post to a specific institution or broadcast to all.
Social
02
Profiles & Blogs
Personal blogs with photo gallery, social status, and contact links. Public or private — controlled by the user. Interest-based connection requests for private profiles.
Identity
03
Chats & Calls
Private messaging, group chats, voice calls, and video calls powered by WebRTC. Customisable colour themes. Voice mute and video hide controls during calls.
Comms
04
Notics
Subscribe to announcers via subscriber IDs. Receive real-time notifications from class reps, administrators, and campus organisations. System notifications for profile activity too.
Alerts
05
Arenas
Post and discover campus events — parties, competitions, science fairs, and gatherings. Enter to attend or hit Inspire to show interest in events you can't make.
Events
06
Jobs & MABS
Verified internships and employment from external organisations; peer-to-peer commerce scoped within your institution. Save jobs, apply in-app, and report fake sellers.
Opportunity
Section 06
Trust & Verification
Every MMUN user is verified through their institution's API before gaining access to the platform. This means only real, currently enrolled students can create accounts — no bots, no impersonators, no anonymous abuse.
This institution-level verification creates a higher-trust environment than any general social network can offer, making every interaction — from messaging to marketplace transactions — safer and more meaningful.

Our Story
Origin
The idea is born
Ndung'u Patrick Ngotho identifies a gap: university students have no dedicated social platform built to reflect their higher cognitive capacity, unique lifestyle, and real-world ambitions.
Development
Building begins
Hands-on development kicks off — Posts, Profiles, Chats, Notics, Arenas, Jobs, and MABS are designed, coded, and tested. Iterative progress tracked on GitHub with timestamped deployments.
February 2026
Copyright registered
MMUN is officially registered with the Kenya Copyright Board (Registration No. 522922641), protecting the platform's original code, design, and architecture.
March–April 2026
Legal framework established
A comprehensive Privacy Policy is published, aligned with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, and updated to cover WebRTC disclosures, cross-border data transfers, third-party processors, and non-student users.
What's next
Expanding across East Africa
MMUN continues to grow — connecting student communities across Kenyan universities and building toward a pan-East Africa student network.
